Bit
In Management Tab, visible to Drilling Companies only
On the Bit Page you can view, add, edit and assign bits to contracts. Use the filter drop downs above the table to filter and view your results and click to reset all of the filters.
Required Bit fields are:
- Serial Number (or unique identifier name/number)
- Make
- Model
- Bit Size; first select Size Unit, then enter size.
- Bit Type
- Contracts is optional, but if bits are not assigned to a contract, they will not be available to select in the Daily Shift Reports.
Action Items on this page are:

Toggle to active Bit S/N selection as a mandatory item for all drilling records. |

Click to add a new Bit. |

Click to edit. Editing will update any previous records already recorded to that Bit. |

Click to delete. You cannot delete a bit with records already associated to it. |

Click a line to view all drilling records associated to the bit and see total distance and distance / hour. |

Click to re-activate a bit and have it added to the available bits for report entries. |

Click to mark a bit complete which will remove it from the available bits when entering DSR’s. Select the reason for marking the bit complete. Options are; - Damaged - Left in Hole - Worn |

Click to activate the multi-select checkboxes. Allows you to select multiple bits to edit or delete. Multiselect allows you to speed up assigning bits to contracts. |

Click to import bits or to download the import excel template. |
Bit Visualizations: at the top of the page you will see 3 visuals. Click on the hamburger menu for each to print/download or view in full screen. Above the visuals you can see filter selections for Depth unit and Currency. Visualizations show:
- Bit Completions: quickly see your total distances, average bit life and cost per distance. You can see a visual showing five bit completion types: Damaged, Worn Flat, Left in Hole, Worn Inner or Worn Outer.
- Bit Life and Bit Rate: hover over each bit to reveal the cost associated
- Average Bit Life by Bit Type: click on a specific bit in the x-axis to filter to Bit Type. Click on the legend to target Bit Life or Cost per depth.
