Advanced Core Recovery Calculator (ACRC)
For Drilling Contractors who want advanced core calculations, the Advanced Core Recovery Calculator is an optional feature which allows for a shift from data collection to calculation support.
Available for Drill Types:
-
- Surface - Coring
- Underground - Coring
- Sonic
- Geotechnical
ACRC available in KruxLog allows users to:
-
- Set barrel constants for each drilling activity
- Incorporate rod count
- Automate String Length and Depth-To calculations
To enable ACRC, go the Presets-->Report Setup in KruxMetrix so that it will be available in KruxLog within Drilling Activities of a DSR:
Note: In KruxLog-->Preferences, you can set the Unit of Measure (the default is metric) along with other settings.
A key component of ACRC is Barrel Constants:
-
- Core Barrel Size: industry standards
- Second Barrel: associated second barrel sizes
- Orientation Tool: industry standards
- Orientation Extension for various sizes
- Constant Stick Up: manual entry
- Rod Length: industry standards
- Barrel Length Calculation: calculated based on inputs
After Barrel Constants have been entered, users may start adding Core Runs for that Drill Activity with "Add Core":
Input core run data:
- Add Rods – Add/subtract rods or manually enter rods for that run
- Total Rod Count – Cumulative rod count in the hole
- Sub Length/Sub Description – Manual entry; Add sub length using consistent units. Input sub description as needed.
- String Length– Automatic calculation of string length based on Barrel Constants, Rod Count and Sub
- Stick Up – Manual entry of Stick Up for that run; add length using consistent units
- Depth From – Auto-populated field informed by Activity Depth From, or the previous core run Depth To
- Depth To – Calculated value based on String Length and Stick Up
- Recovered – Manual entry field of Core Recovered; Core Loss and % Recovered calculated based on Total Drilled and Recovered values
- Orientation – Yes/No dropdown to indicated whether orientation was successful
Barrel Constants and Core Run Data can be reviewed and edited within the Activity by expanding/collapsing the arrow or clicking the Edit icon:
Note: Editing a Barrel Constant will result in updated calculations throughout the associated core runs for that activity
