Customize your Drill Efficiency Rates for accurate scheduling and monitoring of your holes with dynamic calculations. Improve your planning, manage operations, and increase visibility for drilling priorities and hole status management.
Efficiency Rates vs Penetration Rates
Penetration Rate (also referred to as Rate or Penetration: ROP):
Used within our KruxMetrix system - the distance drilled per drilling hour.
Also known as Rate of Penetration, this value only incorporates parameters specific to the Drilling activity.
Efficiency Rate (ER):
Efficiency Rate is a key feature of Scheduler and incorporates a complete view of all activities that are required to a drill hole. It is calculated by taking into account the drilled distance and all activities (both Drilling and Non-Drilling).
Applied Efficiency Rate: this is a value that you assign to your Drill(s). It can be input manually based on internal knowledge or you can use the Efficiency Rate Calculator to access insights using historical data. Drill into your data using specific filters to calculate based on your preferred parameters.
Actual Efficiency Rate: this is a 30-day rolling rate from your Drill(s) current operations. Using this, you can monitor how your Drill(s) are performing in comparison to expectation for insights on whether your Schedule is being executed as planned.
HOLE DURATION CALCULATION EXAMPLE:
For Mining Clients with a subscription to Scheduler, this feature can be accessed under "Management" in the navigation menu:
The drill schedule will be shared amongst the group of geologists/users who have access to Plans.
Holes with an associated Planned depth can be added to the schedule.
Add or edit Planned Depth from within Scheduler or on the Holes page.
There are 3 sections to the Scheduler page:
1. Drills Panel - located on the left of the page. This is where you will click the Add Active Drill button at the bottom of the drill panel to access and filter on the drills to add to the schedule. You can sort and filter to view drills by Contractor or Drill Type:
Drills can only be added once included in an Active Contract.
Each drill will appear as a "drill card" with key pieces of information displayed.
You can click on a card to view these key pieces of information in full:
- Drill Indicator - identifies an Active Drill
vs a Pseudo Drill
.
Note: a Pseudo Drill is a placeholder which you can use to build your schedule and then transition to a Contracted Drill when ready: - Drill Name and Drill Type
- Drill Efficiency - identifies "Applied" Drill Efficiency. (see Efficiency Rate definitions)
Note: This Efficiency Rate is applied when adding a drill or can be edited via the Edit Drill functionality or the Settings button at the bottom of the Drills panel. - Drill Performance Indicator - Actual Efficiency Rate is calculated based on a 30-day rolling rate of that drill's current operations. Drill performance based on Actual vs Applied Drill Efficiency with above/below target arrow icon, and color
- Additional Drill Functionality -
allows user to Edit and Remove drill functionality, update Availability Date, Operating Hours, units and Efficiency Rates of an individual drill:
Note: Removing a drill does not delete it from the system, it simply removes it from the Drill Panel in Scheduler. Any holes assigned to that drill will also be removed and will return to the Holes Panel for future scheduling.
2. Holes Panel Slide-Out - click on the slide-out to access the panel to which you can filter holes based on various criteria. Expand and collapse this panel as needed.
Holes can be added 2 ways:
1. Manually to KruxMetrix via Management-->Holes page
2. By Importing
In the holes panel you will see the "hole cards" with key pieces of information:
You can click on a hole card in the Hole Panel or in the Calendar to view hole information about a hole in full:
- Drilling Priority Indicator - identifies if a hole has been set with a priority of:
- Hole Name
- Hole Status Indicator - based on the current system status:
- Planned
- Active
- Complete
- Planned Depth - can be edited on the Holes page or from within Scheduler by selecting
Edit
- Secondary Status Label - optional field that may be applied via the Holes page or edited within Scheduler by selecting
Edit
- Assigned Drill - the card will appear as deactivated if the hole has been assigned to a drill on the schedule. The assigned Drill Name will be shown:
3. Calendar View - Once you have added drills, you are now able to drag & drop holes from the Holes Panel onto the calendar view. Notice all holes that are Active have a purple outline. The view has the following functionality for your viewing preferences:
- Date - identifies the date you are viewing with the ability to toggle back and forth through the months
- Zoom In or Out and Reset to the default view of 100%
- Calendar View selection by Month, Week or Day
- Date Picker - navigate directly to a specific date
- Scroll bar - scroll horizontally through the calendar to view forward/back
- Add Active Drill button
- add a Drill(s) so that you can assign holes to it.
Note: you must have an Active Contract set up - Add Pseudo Drill button
- add a placeholder drill which you can use to build your schedule and then transition to an Active Drill when ready
- Settings - navigate to the Settings button
for the drills to modify a single or multiple drills and the Efficiency Rate with a manual or calculated rate:
Building Your Schedule
To begin, you must first add one or more drills to the Schedule. This action will open up a 2-Step process:
1. Selecting Drills - choose from a list of Contractors and/or Drill Types to populate the list on the right and select your desired drills. Input the Availability Date of the drills, Operating Hours and Unit of Measure.
Note: You can modify individual drill settings later from the Drill card via Edit Drill:
2. Assigning Drill Efficiency Rate(s) - you can apply various rates to different drills from within this modal either Manually or Calculated:
For Manual (Applied Efficiency Rate): input a value based on your internal knowledge
For Calculated (Applied Efficiency Rate): this accesses historical drilling data based on Drill Type, Hole Type, Plans, Contracts and/or specific Drills and calculates an Efficiency Rate. You can run this calculation multiple times using different data sets of preference see definitions
Select the Drill(s) and Apply the preferred Efficiency Rate
Note: different efficiency rates can be applied to different drills based on drills you have selected with the checkboxes:
Next click on the Holes Panel slide-out. A hole must have a Planned Depth greater than zero to be added to the schedule. Modify your list based on:
- Contract
- Project
- Plan
- Tenement
- Drilling Priority
- Maximum Depth
Add Holes to Schedule:
Select a hole in the panel and Drag & Drop in 2 ways:
1. As a Sequenced Hole - drag & drop onto an existing hole on the schedule to allow for back-to-back scheduling. If you add or remove a hole, the subsequent holes will automatically maintain a seamless schedule.
2. Date-Defined Holes - drag & drop next to an existing hole at a desired start date. These holes remain fixed at that date unless previous holes overrun their schedule. If a previous hole's drilling time extends, the subsequent holes will be pushed to prevent overlap.
Note: On the Calendar view, if the duration of a hole is too short to show a full Hole Card, the user may hover over the card to see the full size card details:
